unraveling

It begins with a curious distraction, an imprecise beginning. Amidst the canvas of the ordinary a beautiful imperfection distorts my expectations and promises discovery. Grasping the opportunity to engage more deeply with a fleeting thought, I tug with equal measure unapologetic preoccupation and delighted fascination. Sometimes the thought is little more than a loose thread whose end is neatly extracted and other times the tangle knots itself into my thoughts indefinitely offering a blissful challenge. Once in a while, I find within my own lovely mess a strand by another’s hand that creates a new unraveling.
For just a moment project yourself forward in time 5 years and look back at yourself now. Will this moment have a serious effect on the you that exists at that time?
There is no singular moment, Maurice, just a reflective appreciation for curious thoughts and insightful conversations that lend direction and invite meditation.
I love your writing – it’s inspiring.
In so far as another might find encouragement in my words, I think that is the beauty of this community – that we, as writers, can craft beginnings from endings.
Love it. What I like to call prose poetry. Spare yet full of meaning.
Thank you, Kitt. I love the happy pitter-patter of alliteration that your phrase ‘prose poetry’ creates.
I had to read that a few times, a lot to wrap your head around! The words in themselves are beautiful, just the way they flow together is art!
The act of re-reading, itself, is a lovely compliment. Thank you!
