faith

In the early morning hours, when the sun washes the ground in a golden possibility, I still myself in a moment of intimate certainty. The tree tops reach toward the sky like steeples anchoring my humility; their limbs entangled into song or sermon. Faith comes to me like the sunrise, an old friend whose company is steady; leading me in a prayer of gratitude for a new day.
I might use this as my opening prayer for our Vestry meeting… crediting you and your talent. This is lovely.
Affirming faith and connecting strangers in prayer – thank you. I love this.
Sounds beautiful. I’m curious–is this prayer, meditation, just a feeling/moment?
It is, perhaps, a benediction. There is a sanctity to the moment, a meditative connectivity at once as familiar and reassuring as the words of prayer I used to recite by heart.
Great question!
You know, every morning when I take my dog outside for the first time, I listen to the birds, the breeze, crickets, cats, neighbors, cars etc. I feel the sun, or even the rain, and I have to smile, and am thankful. Thankful that I can see it. Feel it. Breathe it. On many occasions I have also gotten up for that walk, and it was completely still outside. Eerily still. It used to be, I would feel panic come over me. Wondering what could be wrong. But then I realized, I am safe. I have God always watching over me. He is all I need.
Dogs are wonderful for drawing us out of our routines and distractions, changing the pace and path of our attention. Thank you for this reminder.
Beautifully expressed, as always.
Thank you, Andy.
Wow. Very nicely written! – bgw
You have such a lyrical spirit, I’ll take this as high praise. Thank you.
So glad you decided to match this one with a sister post touching on hope.
I love the playfully insightful suggestion of sisterhood in the connection between these two sharings.
wow – “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
A well placed reference. We tether ourselves to truth with words and there can be no greater truth than love.
Marie – You are my secret weapon to keep my day shining like a star. We never met – I adore your ink and I love your elegancy!
