dreams awake

What happens when we pretend private promises to ourselves into procrastination; when we release ourselves from the very thing that draws us further into our dreams awake? Why did I set aside yesterday’s intentions for an uncertain someday? The morning has come too soon and I wear my restlessness with a resigned acceptance that pulls uncomfortably around my thoughts. Where is the sun when the sky is too dark to light the day; where are the stars when it is too late to fall back into dreams and too soon to be awake?
Restlessness is probably one of my least favorite feelings. Sadness, even, beats it. Restlessness is things not yet done, uncertain paths, sitting on my hands.
Agreed, Kay. It feels a little like that moment at the edge of a pool, when you realize you haven’t leapt and your feet are suddenly weighted by the burden of doubt. You can see the frivolousness and freedom of those swimming unselfconsciously, but you cannot undress your hesitation without first revealing your most vulnerable hopes.
